Riain Condon - Artist & Software Engineer

👋🏻 I'm Riain, a contemporary theatre artist and software engineer currently based out of Dublin, Ireland. I am interested in all kinds of arts - installations, dance, physical, site specific, anything weird. I am interested in developer productivity and efficiency where developer satisfaction is the driving force. Big fan of rugby - Munster and Ireland, enjoy Formula 1 and enjoy games like CoD, CS2, The Finals etc.

Artist

I'm an Irish emerging theatre artist, working primarily as a writer, designer, and director. During my time in Dublin City University, I designed, directed, and produced various productions, including Chicago, Trainspotting, Pippin, Jerusalem, and more. I also worked as the technical manager and lighting designer for several productions, such as White and Hollow and Dead-Eyed Beasts by Pea Dinneen. In 2022, I directed, designed, and devised freddo bars and cigars, premiering at Scene and Heard Festival. I am a part of DEAD CUTE, a Dublin-based contemporary theatre collective. I work with one step at a time like this, a Melbourne/Naarm based group on contemporary, site specific theatre - The Stories That Live in Our Streets (Clonmel Junction Festival, 2014), Forever Young (Clonmel Junction Festival & Traverse Theatre, 2015) and All the ways without you (in development - Project Arts Centre 2019, Clonmel Junction Festival 2021, Darebin Arts 2022, Jersey Arts Centre 2023). I designedI can't do a cartwheel, DEAD CUTE's sophomore show (Scene and Heard Festival at Smock Alley Theatre, 2024). I am also the lighting designer for 7-piece Dublin based band, and he, the fool.

Software Engineer

I'm an experienced Software Engineer, currently working with Personio. I work as a Platform Engineer on the Developer Experience team, focusing recently on Frontend DX. I have developed tooling to improve speed of execution in developer workflows, monorepo pipeline tooling using dynamic pipelines and Projen on Gitlab, deployment safety tooling to enable instant rollbacks and auditing and much more. I'm interested in everything from local development tooling and improvements to production architecture and infra. The goal is to create a simple way to go from local to production as fast and as frictionless as possible, making it difficult to do the wrong thing and incredibly easy to do the right thing.
